All information required is included in the Concept Star Professional Software and Training Package.

Do I need additional resources to learn Concept Star?

All information required to learn Concept Star and the decision support method are included in the Concept Star Professional Software and Training Package.

This package provides the theoretical background of the method as well as detailed instructions for both individual and group use of Concept Star. It does not attempt to teach general facilitation skills, but does provide numerous practical tips for facilitators wishing to use Concept Star for group decision making sessions.

Does Concept Star provide graphical output of the relationship map?

Yes. The relationship map is automatically displayed in graphical format. This map can also be printed or copied to other applications for inclusion in reports.

The ability to display the graphical relationship map immediately is a very important feature for practical use of any ISM software. A visual relationship map is necessary to identify the paths or threads formed by the ideas and to facilitate understanding of the situation and decision-making.

Can I view a partially created model?

Yes. The partially created graphical relationship map can be displayed at any time.

How long does it take Concept Star to create the model?

Concept Star can immediately calculate and display the graphical relationship map. Typically this takes less than a second.

Can I copy the relationship map to my word processor in order to include it in my reports?

Yes. The Windows Copy and Paste commands can be used to copy the graphical relationship map to most applications that accept picture data.

How many ideas can be modeled using Concept Star?

Concept Star can model more than 1000 ideas using a computer system that meets minimum Windows 95 requirements. The actual number of ideas that can be modeled is limited only by the amount of memory on the computer. (In practice, most Concept Star sessions involve less than 50 ideas.)

What type of equipment do I need to use Concept Star in a group of 25 to 30 participants?

Do I need an assistant to run a group Concept Star session?

Because Concept Star is very user-friendly a single facilitator can run a group session.

For large groups, it is easier if the facilitator has an assistant. The facilitator can concentrate on the group dynamics, participation and decision making process. The assistant can keep a manual record of the decisions, reasoning and important points from the discussion. The assistant is sometimes a volunteer from within the group.
